(Sorry about the LONG delay in posting! I have been so busy I couldn't find the time to write!)
On The Merlin Mega Fan Website, the cast and crew page has been down for god knows how long now, so I have finally decided to work on it.
When I looked at the page I had to work on, I found that I had written the half-finished story of Merlin's life which took up 2 1/4 pages of an old-style book design.
I am not going to keep that piece of writing on the website as it is far too long, and includes major spoilers for those who haven't watched the show, but for those who have watched the show, I will put it here, even though it is only half-done and un-proof read.
WARNING: the following piece of writing contains spoilers for Merlin up to series 2 episode 3.
"Merlin
Merlin, who was born with magic, grew up in Ealdor, a small village beyond the White Mountains which was in King Cenred's, then King Lott's Kingdom. He was friends with the Prince of Ealdor, William, who knew about his magic. But when Merlin's mother, Hunith, discovered that Will knew Merlin's secret, she became fearful, and sent Merlin to Camelot and to Gaius in hope of a better life for him.
There, he learnt from the Great Dragon that it was his destiny to protect the Once and Future King and help him create Albion... The Once and Future King being the arrogant Prince Arthur who Merlin - aswell as a lot of others at the time - couldn't like less.
Also, Gaius immediatly discovered Merlin's magic when it was used to save his life, and although he protected this secret, he didn't exactly encorage sorcery.
Merlin made friends with both The Lady Morgana and her gentle maid, Guinevere, or Gwen for short.
When Merlin saved Arthur's life for the first time, King Uther rewarded him a position in the royal household... Prince Arthur's Man-servant, a job neither of them were too happy about.
And Gaius gave him an old magic book that used to belong to him.
Merlin was hardly a good servant, but he was a loyal one, protecting Arthur first of all for his destiny, then because he was his friend, although he hardly ever took credit for it.
He continued to seek advise and knowledge from the Great Dragon, though he rarely listened to him. Instead, he made his own desisions based on what he felt was right, which sometimes lead to devastating consequences.
When Arthur was to fight againt a wraith - a spirit conjured from the dead, who could not be killed by any mortal weapon - Merlin asked for the stongest sword Gwen's father (Tom, the blacksmith) had ever made, and took it to the dragon. Excalibar was forged in the Dragon's breath, born of the old magic... a weapon that could slay the dead, made for Arthur alone.
But when Merlin reported to the Dragon that it was not Arthur, but his father, Uther that had weilded the sword, he was told to place it somewhere that no man could ever find it, so he threw it into the Lake of Avalon.
When Arthur was bitten by the Questing beast and doomed to die, Merlin went to the isle of the blest, the centre of the old religion, as he was told to by the Dragon, and met there a sorceress whom he had encounted before - Nimueh. At first, he offered his life in place of Arthurs, but instead, his mother fell ill, and he blamed the Dragon for tricking him. In the end, Merlin mastered the power of life and death its self, and took Nimueh's life in place for Arthur's.
He was forced to return to the Great Dragon for his help when an ancient sorcerer returned from the dead and was destroying Camelot. In exchange for his help, the Great Dragon made Merlin promise to one day release him from the cave Uther had imprisoned him in.
Merlin overheard Morgana telling Gaius that she had magic, and Gaius telling her that she didn't... So Merlin risked everything to put her in touch with the druids who could help her."
That's all I wrote, about a year ago.
oh, and don't worry: the charactor summary's will be A LOT briefer than this!
